Wayne Allen was the Advisor of the Associated Student Body at Chula Vista High School in the mid- 1950s. In August of 1962, Wayne was appointed Advisor to the Associated Student Organization at Southwestern College, and in 1967, he was named Dean of Students.

Every academic year at SWC culminated in a major awards program. The highlight of the program was the presentation of the students’ Man and Woman of the Year Awards and also the Outstanding Faculty Member Award named after the Dean of Students, Wayne Allen. It was always a great honor to receive these coveted awards.

Wayne worked untiringly for the betterment of the College, and when he retired in JJune 1977, Saxon Wraith succeeded him as Vice President of Student Services. He is remembered by one of his former students as “a kind man with a good sense of humor who worked well with his students.” A great legacy indeed!
