Bio

John Fox is a native of Virginia Beach but grew up in the San Diego area after moving here at age 15 in 1970. He attended Castle Park High School and played football for Southwestern College from 1974 to 1975. After graduating from SWC, he moved on to San Diego State University and played defensive back for the Aztecs. He graduated from SDSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and earned a Secondary Teaching Credential in 1977.

Starting as a graduate assistant at SDSU in 1978, John became an Assistant Football Coach at United States International University. He made a succession of moves to Boise State in 1980, Long Beach State in 1981, Utah in 1982, Kansas in 1983 and Iowa in 1984. He made twelve moves before being named Defensive Coordinator of the New York Giants in 1977.

John Culminated a twenty year odyssey when he was names Head Coach of the Carolina Panthers on January 26, 2002. The Panthers nearly won Super Bowl XXXVIII in February, 2004. He is regarded as one of the top defensive coaches in the National Football League and valued of his work ethic, enthusiasm, and high energy.

John and his wife, Robin, have three sons: Matthew, Mark and Cody and a daughter, Halle.
