Bio

Edna Rodriguez graduated from high school in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico in 1989. She attended Southwestern College from 1991 to 1994 and was selected Pacific Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year in 1991 and 1992 while helping her team win the Pacific Coast Conference title both years. Concurrently she led the state in steals and assists and was selected to the Junior College Kodak All- American team and the State Coaches All-Star Team.

After graduating from Southwestern College, Edna attended San Diego State University on a full scholarship, graduating with a B.A. in Public Administration. At SDSU, her basketball team won the Western Athletic Conference Championship in 1994-95. She was named First Team Best Defensive Player for both seasons. Edna then serves as Assistant Coach for the Women’s Basketball Team for the 1996-97 seasons.

In 1993-94, Edna returned to Southwestern ad an assistant coach and then again in 2000-2002 while she was working on a Master’s Degree in Social Work at San Diego State University. For her many contributions to Southwestern College and women’s basketball, Edna was inducted in 2004 into the California Community College Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
