Bio

Scott Young is a San Diego native who graduated from Bonita Vista High School in 1974. He attended Southwestern College from 1974-1976 and earned his Associates Degree.

As a track athlete, Scott earned many awards: SWC Scholar Citizen Athlete Award 1976; SWC Most Valuable Track Athlete; SWC Iron Man Track Athlete Award- Holds record for most points scored in season; SWC School Record for highest total points scored in a single track meet; SWC School Record Holder in the High Jump; Southern California Junior College Champion, High Hurdles; Junior College State Decathlon Championship- 5^th Place Finish.

Scott transferred to San Diego State University on a track and field scholarship, earned a degree in physical education in 1979. He continued to compete successfully in track: Pacific Coast Athletic Association Decathlon Championship in 1977; 3^rd Place in the Western Athletic Conference Javelin Championship in 1979, 5^th place All American Honors N.C.A.A Decathlon Championships; Top five SDSU All-time performance arks in high hurdles, high jump, javelin, and sprint events.

Scott trained for the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, but tragically President Carter boycotted USA’s participation. He then entered the 19 Regional Police Academy in 1983 and was hired by the Chula Vista Police Department. He spent twelve years with CVPD before pursuing an investigator position with the San Diego District Attorney’s Office in 1996. 

Scott has won numerous professional awards and commendations, among these are the 1999 Insurance Fraud Investigator of the Year presented by the Southern California Chapter of the International Special Investigation Units. In November 2003, he was awarded the District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis Commendation for District Attorney Investigator Mutual Aid Response to the Firestorm disaster.
