Bio

Valley Coleman graduated from Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach, California in 1970 where he was an outstanding athlete in basketball, track and football. As a senior, he was selected to the All Metropolitan league Track Team.

Valley attended Southwestern College (SWC) in 1970-1971, and played football for Coach Wes Foreman. He also participated in track for Head Coach Rich Gehring running the 110 high hurdles. He was named Conference Champion in the high hurdles and second in the long jump.

Valley won an athletic scholarship to Utah State University, where played football as a starting defensive end in 1973-74. In 1975, he was a free agent with the San Diego Chargers and in 1976-77; he played semipro football with the San Diego Sharks.

A longtime resident of Chula Vista and an avid Southwestern College Athletic supporter, Valley has three who have attended SWC and are outstanding athletes. Son Beau received a football scholarship from Iowa State University and later played three years in the NFL Europe. Other son, Valley, also received a football scholarship and attended Northern Arizona University. His daughter, Janna, just completed her second season of soccer for the Jags. All have reflected their father’s athleticism, work ethic, and love for sports.
