Bio

Katalina Romero is one of the most accomplished student/athletes in the history of Southwestern College, winning the College’s only national title. She competed on the Women’s Tennis Team in 2000 for Coach Carolyn Brady and received impressive array of awards on the conference, state, and national levels, recognizing her for her outstanding play as a dominating singles and doubles competitor. She was named Pacific Coast Conference Singles and Doubles Champion, Pacific Coast All Conference, 100 Ojai Valley Singles Community College Team Champion, Southern California Regional Single Champion and Doubles Finalist, California State Tournament Singles Champion, California Community College Intercollegiate Tennis Association Player of the Year, and finally 2000 Rolex National Singles Community College Champion.

After her one year at Southwestern College, Katalina moved on to San Diego State University with a full tennis scholarship. She competed from 2001 through 2004, the remaining years of her eligibility. Ever consistent, Katalina again achieved.

In 2003 and 2004, she was Mountain West All Conference Team Member for single and Mountain West All Conference Team for doubles in 2002, 2003, and 2004. Notably, in 2003 with partner Indra Ericsson, Katalina was ranked #13 in the Nation in NCAA Division 1.

Katalina completed her education in 2004, graduating from San Diego State University with a B.S. in integrated Marketing Communications. She is married to former Southwestern College baseball player Luis Camarena and their first child was born in 2005.
