Athletic Training

It is the mission of the Wellness, Exercise Science and Athletics Department at Southwestern College to recognize diversity and provide an equal and inclusive environment for all student athletes to have access to the best possible care and prevention of sports related injuries.

The Athletic Training staff cares for approximately 500 student athletes competing on our 16 athletic teams.
Through communication, creativity and innovation, the athletic training staff and team physician collaborate in a team approach in order to meet the needs of the student-athlete.  Our goal is always to return our athletes to full participation as quickly and safely as possible.

Southwestern College provides two state of the art Athletic Training Rooms conveniently located in each of our two main athletics buildings.  Between these two facilities, all of our Men’s and Women’s Athletic Programs sports injury needs are met.

The Fieldhouse athletic training room is located on the 1st floor (field level) of the Wellness, Exercise Science and Athletics building.

The gymnasium / aquatic wellness center “JAWS” also has a fully staffed athletic training room to meet the needs of those athletes that participate in that building.

Should your athletic teams have any special needs please contact us in advance so that we can accommodate for that.  Emergency equipment and first aid supplies will be available and a certified athletic trainer will attend each athletic event. A team physician and ambulance will be present at all football games. In case of an emergency, Sharp Hospital is within 6 minutes of the Southwestern campus.
