2016 Hall of Fame

MELANIE (OSTBERG) CULUKO
Volleyball/Softball 

In 1997 Melanie “Mup” Ostberg, a 5’10” outside volleyball hitter, was selected to the Pacific Coast Conference First Team and was named SWC’s Best All Around and Best Defensive Player. Competing on the softball team in 2000, she earned All-Conference honors as a 2nd year player, Steve Miner’s Coaches Award and hit the line-drive to beat the undefeated perennial state champion Palomar College.

After a long career working for the Chula Vista Police Department, she became Police Chief David Bejarano’s Chief of Staff in 2014.

GARY FICACCI
Football 

From 1980-1982 Gary Ficacci played offensive tackle earning him berths on the All-Mission Conference Team and the All-State Team. He played for Long Beach State University and completed his B.A. in Psychology at San Diego State University.

His 27-year career in law enforcement for the San Diego Sheriff's Department and Chula Vista Police Departments as a patrol officer in narcotics, a detective in robbery-homicide, a commander for SWAT, and finally captain and 2nd in charge of the CVPD has been stellar.

OGEMDI “OG” NWAGBUO
Football 

Ogemdi “OG” Nwagbuo, a defensive tackle from 2003-2005, recorded 55 tackles and 10 sacks, earned All-Conference honors, a scholarship to Michigan State University and ultimately a career in the NFL competing as a professional football player from 2008-2013 for the Chargers, the Carolina Panthers and the Detroit Lions.

A true student-athlete OG is earning his M.A. in Business Administration and is a popular speaker at sports clinics, fundraisers, charity events and school functions, often working with at-risk students.

 

 

 

 

PAMELA KAY STONE 
Softball 

An outstanding softball pitcher at Patrick Henry High, Point Loma Nazarene College and the University of Arizona, Pam Stone earned her B.S. and M.S. in Exercise Sports Science and dedicated her talents to coaching the sport she loved. At Southwestern, she developed a top program, winning 120 games in seven years and was named PCC Coach of the Year three times. At Arizona Western College, she won 580 games with a winning percentage of .630 and led her teams to post-season play 12 of 15 seasons.

A current consultant for universities, she reviews and evaluates pitchers and gives private lessons.

 

 

 

KEN OHLENDORF 
Baseball/Basketball 

 

Ken Ohlendorf was a two-sport athlete for the “Apaches” from 1966-1968. As their 1st baseman, he was named Co-Captain and was selected First Team All-Pacific Southwest Conference as a sophomore batting 348. In basketball he averaged 17 points per game, was the leading scorer and rebounder, earned All-Conference honors 2nd Team and received a full scholarship to the University of Alaska where he helped the team to its first winning season and graduated with a B.A. in Finance.

He has parlayed his degree and experiences into an impressive 40-year career in auditing and accounting services.
