3C2A SoCal Regional Bracket Set: SWC Baseball Captures No. 17 Seed

2024 3C2A Baseball SoCal Regional Bracket

The 2024 California Community College Athletic Association baseball regionals is set. Southwestern (23-17, 15-10) will travel to Long Beach City College as the Jaguars captured the #17 seed and a second-place finish in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play. Leading up to its postseason bid, SWC swept the final regular season series versus Imperial Valley.

Southwestern's steady pitching staff completed the regular season with 305 strikeouts, an average of 7.78 strikeouts per nine innings, and yielded the fewest number of home runs (19) in the PCAC. Trevor Rector led the team with 68 strikeouts, 3.04 ERA and 1.18 WHIP (Walks plus Hits per Inning Pitched). The battalion of right-handed pitchers: Trevor Rector, Thomas Ringer, Adrian Sanchez, Jonah Stepner and David Gordon have 19 of the club's 23 wins.

The team's defense performed well all season with a .962 fielding percentage.

The strong and deep Jaguar batting lineup possesses a .288 team batting average and .393 on-base percentage. The team has scored 279 total runs, totaled 400 hits, 68 doubles, 12 triples and 20 home runs. Aiden Perez (LF) leads the team with 63 hits, 13 doubles, 7 home runs, 41 RBIs, .406 batting average and .481 on-base percentage. Danny Zepeda (3B) has 58 hits, 8 doubles, 24 RBIs, a .374 batting average and .466 on-base percentage. Nico Vallarelli (1B) has 46 hits, 8 doubles, 4 triples and 7 home runs, 29 RBIs, and a .319 batting average.

Long Beach City College (27-13, 16-8) enters the postseason as the #8 seed with a second-place finish in the South Coast Conference. Long Beach CC is 5-5 in its last ten games and coming off a two-game losing skid versus #1 seed Cerritos (32-8). Dylan Proost (RHP) has seven wins on the season and Luke Davis (C) leads the team and conference with 13 home runs.

Should the Jaguars advance, the Super Regionals are May 9-11.
