Jags begins their 13th season under head coach Ed Carberry

The JAGS are ready for the start of the 2019 season as they begin their second season in the National Division. Head Coach Ed Carberry begins his 13th season leading the program.  The JAGS will open the season against local team SD Mesa.  Mesa is led by new head coach Gary Watkins.  Watkins was the interim head coach in 2018 and earned the job this past season.

OFFENSE : There is a lot of personnel changes for 2019 with many players moving on to four year universities. Returning RB DeAdre Daniels (Saints) rushed for over 1,000 yards last S season.  Freshman bounce back (Oregon)  RB Kevlan Chapman (Desoto HS, Texas) puts more speed and size into the mix.  The OL is big with giant Flavio Gonzales from Casa Grande High School Arizona measuring in at 6'6, 340 lbs.  Sophomore WR Paul Thompson (Olympian HS) is a key player in the passing game.

DEFENSE:  The JAG defense starts out the season having to replace 9 starters for 2019.  First Team all league DT Andrew Schassa (Lincoln HS) returns to shore up the inside.  In the secondary returning starter Issac Wright (St. Agustine HS) has hit the weights hard and brings a physical aspect to his game.  The base defense for the JAGS is a 4 -2-5 front that uses multiple secondary coverages. The Defensive Player of the Year in San Diego County this past season Josh McCurty (Eastlake HS) is the Mike LB and a dominant performer in the county.

KICK TEAMS:  The kicking game has has the speed and size for coverage and returns.  Who runs those returns has yet to be determined.  Akeer Franklin (Maryland) leads the way to handle bothY punt and kickoff returns.  Local Kicker DJ Del Fiero (Eastlake HS)  and Punters Ceazar Macias (Mar Vista HS) Granite Hills HS grad Justin McEllgott.
