SWC Softball takes advantage of the R.A.D. System Class offered by SWC police department

The entire Southwestern Softball team spent the afternoon learning how to protect themselves and be aware of their surroundings. Officer Sylvester and his staff conducted exercises and activities that helped prepare the student athletes if they are confronted with an aggressive individual and methods to have a successful outcome.

Coach M " Officer Sylvester and his staff did a fantastic job preparing the girls to be stronger, confident women. Already these girls are competitive but they may not know certain tactics to protect themselves in certain situations off the field. We want to ensure as a college they are prepared at every level to succeed when they transfer on from Southwestern."

The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self defense tactics and techniques for women.  The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.
