Athletic Study Hall (ASH)

Athletic Study Hall (ASH)

The primary purpose of the Athletic Study Hall (ASH) is to provide specialized resources to student-athletes in order to ensure the successful transition from high school to community college, acclimating to SWC and academic culture, and preparation for life after SWC. (ASH) provides a structured learning environment with computers and study tables for student-athletes to work independently, or with tutoring on their academic assignments.

A critical part of the Student Athlete Support Program is the Athletic Study Hall (ASH) which provides an environment in which athletes can seek assistance with homework, hone academic skills, work on computers, conduct internet research, print assignments, meet with the Athletic Counselor, participate in independent study, receive weekly progress checks, and complete organizational tasks necessary for student success.

Though (ASH) is open to all student-athletes, the following students would be required to participate each week, completing a minimum of four hours each week:

  • (ASH) requires all First-Year student athletes to attend study hall for 4 hours each week
  • (ASH) requires all student athletes with a GPA 2.5 or below to attend 4 hours each week
