Bio

Tyler began his volleyball career at Hilltop High School leading his team to a 2004 and 2005 South Bay Championship and 2006 South Bay Runner-up as a the starting setter in his junior and senior years. He was named first team All-South Bay as well as being awarded 1st team CIFSDS Division II for the 2005 and 2006 seasons.  He then moved on to play on the nationally ranked Cal Poly SLO club volleyball team and helped his team achieve a silver medal in the NIRSA Club Volleyball Championships in 2007. 

In 2009 he moved back home from SLO and began coaching the JV boys team at his high school alma mater. In 2010 he was the JV and assistant Varsity coach for Castle Park’s first South Bay League title and in 2011 he became the Head Varsity Coach for the Boys’ Volleyball program at Hilltop High School, which he had guided to back to back to back Metro-Pacific League titles in 2014, 2015, and 2016. In August of 2014, he was selected to coach the U23 Baja California Men‘s team in the Campeonato Nacional Sub 23 in Durango, Mexico.  From 2013 to 2015 he was an assistant coach under US Olympian and WVPA/AVP star Angela Rock for the Southwestern College Women’s Volleyball team and he was in charge of all technical aspects of the program as well as stat taking/video analysis and recruiting. 

In 2015 he took over the Varsity program at Mar Vista High and lead them to a CIFSDS D5 finals. He was then offered the position of girls varsity volleyball coach at Hilltop High School in 2016, guiding them to a South Bay League Championship in his first year and to another in 2018. 

He received his BA in Geography from SDSU.  Tyler gets his volleyball playing fix competing in leagues in Tijuana and tournaments throughout Baja California and is always looking to gain further knowledge of the game.
