Men Basketball Head Coach Tyrone Shelley coaching philosophy

Men Basketball Head Coach Tyrone Shelley coaching philosophy

When Coach Tyrone was first hired as Head Coach for the Men's Basketball Team he emphasized his motto, "one percent better." This meant not placing unrealistic expectations on his team. All he asked of his players was that they strive to be "one percent better" than the day before. Coach Tyrone believes his team achieved that. This mindset resonated with the student-athletes on the court and in the classroom. This season, game statistics for all of the returning players went up and the team tied for third in the conference. Coach Tyrone says the "one percent better" motto will still apply for next season. He wants to see personal growth in all of this players, continue to hold a high ranking in the conference and set an academic standard for the Southwestern College Men's Basketball program.

Coach Tyrone would also like to thank the sophomores who put in a lot of hard work this season: Harlan Nichols, Damascus Sanders, Jason Danso, Paris Smith, Kerryon Key and Karl Ashley
