PCAC 3rd invitational swim meet.....jaguars represented well, winning and placing in a number of key conference events

The Southwestern College Jaguars hosted the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference's 3rd Invitational meet on Friday, March 24th. The Jaguars represented incredibly well, winning and placing in a number of key conference events.

The men's 400 Medley Relay team, composed of all freshmen, set a new school record in the 400 yard Medley Relay. Ethan Hastings, Emelio Rujana, Luis Serrano and Alejandro Serrano swam a 3:55.28 to break the 9-year-old school record. The women's relay team, consisting of freshman Mayra Lobato, Kiana Henriquez, Karla Montoya and sophomore Sofia Bravo finished in 3rd place in the 400 yard Medley Relay with a time of 5:24.52.

Mayra Lobato won both women's backstroke events, the 100 yard Backstroke (1:04.13) and the 200 yard Backstroke (2:24.61). Lobato also finished in 2nd place in the women's 50 yard Freestyle (27.02). Right behind Lobato, was freshman Kiani Henriquez, who finished 3rd in the 50 yard Freestyle (27.53). Henriquez also finished in 2nd place in the women's 400 yard Individual Medley (5:17.23).

Luis Serrano won all three of his individual events for the Jaguars. He won the men's 100 yard Backstroke, with a new school record of 57.54. Then followed it up with another school record in the men's 200 yard Backstroke, finishing at 2:04.24. His third victory was in the men's 500 yard Freestyle (4:56.91).

Freshman Alejandro Serrano won the men's 200 yard Individual Medley, with a time of 2:10.66. He also finished in 2nd place in the men's 200 yard Freestyle (1:51.83).

Freshman Emelio Rujana had two runner-up finishes, in the 50 yard Freestyle (22.76) and the 100 yard Freestyle (50.09). Rujana also finished in 3rd place in the men's 100 yard Butterfly, with a time of 55.30.

Sophomore Jake Osthimer finished in 2nd place in the men's 200 yard Backstroke, with a new season best 2:16.22. Freshman Hanson Gallegos finished in 2nd place in the 100 yard Backstroke (1:01.25) and in 3rd place in the men's 200 yard Individual Medley (2:18.73).

Next up for the Jaguars will be the Riverside Invitational at Riverside Community College on Friday, April 7th.
