Today we celebrate retirement and career change of former track coaches

Today we celebrate the retirement and career change of two profound track and field coaches at Southwestern Community College, Tonie Campbell and Adam Henderson. Tonie Campbell was the former head coach for the men's and women's track and field and cross-country team for 20 years. Campbell has served as the Managing Director for the (USA Track and Field) High Performance Center, and the Vice President of San Diego/Imperial Men's (USA Track and Field) association. In addition to his coaching career Campbell earned three USA Olympic Teams (1980,84,88) winning the Bronze Medal in Seoul Korea. Campbell has since then retired from coaching and is now the Dean of Athletics at Cuyamaca College.

Adam Henderson also coached alongside Tonie Campbell at Southwestern Community College for 10 years. Henderson also served as the Chairman for the San Diego/Imperial Womens (USA Track and Field) association for over 18 years. Prior to joining the coaching staff at SWC, Henderson was an athletic consultant for 28 years. Henderson is the father of Monique Henderson a 2x gold medalist in 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games in Athen, Greece and Beijing, China. Congratulations to both on their retirement and wonderful career changes.
