Softball receives 6 All-Conference selections

For the first time in several years Southwestern College softball has received 6 selections for All Pacific Coast Athletic Conference awards. SWC softball received 2 First-team selection, 3 2nd team selections and 1 Honorable Mention award.

Leading the way with first team selections are catcher Kassidy Harper (Santana) and pitcher Madison Mendez (Santana).  Harper led the Jaguars in hitting (.374), home runs (6) and Rbis (31), while also amassing 7 doubles and 3 triples. She was a stalwart behind the plate and started all 39 games this season.

Mendez was dynamic in the circle this season winning 14 games and throwing an astounding 195 innings this campaign. Mendez struck out 66 while only walking 57 batters. She started 28 games and appeared in 35 of the 39 games played this season. Mendez also batted .358 with 2 home runs and 26 Rbi's.

2nd team selections were Dani Sandez (Otay Ranch), Haley Oceguerra (Santana) and Elyssa Garcia (Clairemont).  Sandez batted .291, had 5 stolen bases and played a terrific center field only making 1 error in 65 total chances. Haley Oceguerra batted .305 with 8 doubles and 22 Rbi's. She also worked 13 walks and only struck out 6 times all season. She had a .390 OBP and played terrific at 2nd base.  Elyssa Garcia had a 1.000 fielding percentage, not making an error in over 190 total chances. Garcia also batted .345 with 2 Home runs and 17 Rbis.

Jordyn Beatty (Santana) was named Honorable Mention primarily due to her outstanding defense at shortstop. Beaty had a .926 fielding percentage with over 190 chances at a tough position. Beatty also contributed at the plate with a .282 batting average with 1 home run and .428 on base percentage.
