Women’s Soccer Alondra Osuna named 2020 PCAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Year!

Jaguar Nation stand up and applaud one of our own!  Sophomore Women's Soccer student-athlete, Alondra Osuna, has been named the 2020 Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Female Scholar-Athlete-of-Year! Many were nominated but she was chosen!  He accolades stand-alone but then when we take into account her good heart and spirit how could she ever be over-looked?

On the soccer field she started with the Lady Jags as a freshman.  She fought was awarded Most Improved Player after showing her growth being new to the program under Head Coach Carolina Soto.  She came back for her sophomore year and earned the title of Team Captain to start the season.  Osuna was a starter in the line-up every game last season.  She scored two game winning goals for the Jags.

Off the field, Osuna was even more impressive!  She maintained a 3.9 GPA and completed 72 units to transfer.  As a Team Captain, she facilitated team tutoring sessions so her peers would be pushed to achieve their best.  Osuna was always reliable as she volunteered for team fundraisers and organized team meetings and even team boding activities outside of school.  In her free time, she assisted her teammates when it came time to apply for universities.  She was the Vice-President of the Baller Scholar ASO Club at Southwestern College whose mission is to assist fellow students with any personal or academic hardships.  She saw a need for her peer student-athletes and created a new club on campus named NCAA for Transfer to assist student-athletes in the transferring process at each step of the way.  Osuna volunteered in community youth soccer programs as well.

Most recently, Osuna was named to the President's Honor Roll, awarded the ASO Scholarship and awarded the Student of Distinction Award (SODA) at Southwestern College.  Alondra has been awarded and accepted a full scholarship to the University of California in San Diego.

Alondra is the epitome of what a Southwestern College Jaguar Student-Athlete represents! She has not only proved herself on the field but she cares about the well being of others off the field.  She wants everyone to succeed!  We are so proud of you Alondra! We cannot wait to see all the greatness you will continue to add to this world!

Go Jags!!
