Women's Soccer Scholarship Superstars!

Women's Soccer Scholarship Superstars!

The women’s soccer program not only emphasizes hard work on the soccer field, they promote and encourage their student-athletes to work hard academically as well.  In addition to the variety of SWC resources available, academically our student-athletes have the support of our coaching staff, outstanding athletic-counseling staff and a student-athlete study hall to assist them in excelling in the classroom and to fully prepare them to transfer to the university of their choice.

We are excited to announce three recipients for this year’s spring semester SWC Scholarship awards. Sophomore Alondra Osuna was selected for the SODA (Student of Distinction Award), which is only awarded to twenty SWC students.  It is a huge honor to be recognized for this award and she is the second women’s soccer student-athlete to be awarded with this recognition (Vanessa Fernandez was awarded the SODA scholarship as well in 2017).  Ms. Osuna received three additional scholarships; ASO Academic Excellence Scholarship, Jason’s Courtyard Café Entrepreneurial Scholarship, and the SWC Veteran’s Scholarship.  Alondra Osuna was awarded over $2,500!  She currently has a 3.9 GPA and has been accepted to a variety of CSU’s and UC schools. She has been an outstanding leader and we will continue to provide support and encouragement throughout her education. Once a Jaguar, Always a Jaguar!

Freshman Natalie Dubon was awarded over $3k in scholarship money being awarded the ASO Academic Excellence Scholarship and Douglas E. Barnhart Scholarship. Ms. Dubon currently has a 4.0 GPA and is an engineering major. She has described her experience as an SWC student-athlete as one in which she is so grateful for.  Being part of the women’s soccer team has assisted her in feeling like an integral part of the SWC college community. Natalie Dubon has excellent academically and athletically and we are proud to have her be part of our program.  Freshman Myah Montoya was also a recipient for the ASO Athlete Scholarship.  She currently has a 3.88.  Ms. Montoya’s commitment to her academics and to our program is superb and we are so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such outstanding young women.  Keep up the great work and GO JAGS!!!
