Nationally Ranked Women’s Soccer Showdown Set for Friday Night

Chula Vista, Ca – On Friday, a pair of top 6 nationally-ranked teams will take the pitch at DeVore Stadium as the undefeated and #6 ranked Southwestern College (3-0) women's soccer team will host Chaffey College (3-0-1).  Chaffey – which lost in the 2023 state semifinals to eventual champion Folsom Lake is the current top team in the Junior College DIII Women's Soccer Rankings.

The clash of ranked teams is set for Friday, September 6th at 5:00 p.m.

Southwestern who was unranked in the Preseason Poll has garnered national attention with a hot start defeating Mt. San Jacinto, 3-0 and Santiago Canyon, 4-2 on the road and Fullerton College, 5-0 in SWC's home opener.

With an experienced group of 19 sophomores, the Jags have been on a scoring spree and possess a stingy defense that has posted two shutouts.  Aaliyah Campbell has surrendered just two goals the first three games.  Sophomores Yulitza Castorena and Aaliya Montano as well as first year player, Katelyne Gonzalez have been major factors on offense, accounting for 7 of the 12 team goals.  Jenica Stell leads the team with 2 assists.
