Bio

Jocelyn Ortega begins her first season as Southwestern College Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach for the 2019- 2020 academic year.
 
Ortega has served as the Women’s Assistant Soccer Coach at Hartwick College (2017-2018), where she led and assisted the Hawks to an Empire 8 Conference Championship. Along with the Women’s Coaching Staff, they were also named the Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the year.

Coach Ortega has been coaching in the Chula Vista community for nine years as a club and high school coach.  Currently, she is coaching with Rebels Soccer Club, piloting the Girls’ 2002 Elite Team (ECNL), and 2001 Girls Academy Team (SCDSL).  She has also been the assistant varsity, junior varsity, and novice soccer coach at Eastlake High School. She was also the head coach of the girls’ field hockey team at Eastlake (2010-2017).  In 2015, Ortega was named Eastlake High School Assistant Coach of the Year.

As a student athlete, she began playing her college career at San Diego Mesa college where she played two seasons (2010- 2012) and went on to transfer to Southern Vermont College (2012- 2014). Coach Ortega graduated Cum Laude from Southern Vermont College with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in May 2014. She earned NECC Second Team honors and was a conference Player of the Week in her junior season. She was also named to the NECC All-Academic Team. Coach Ortega captained the Mountaineers in her senior season. She secured NECC First Team accolades and was named team Most Valuable Player.
