Volleyball Opener vs San Bernardino Valley
In a hard-fought contest, Southwestern College fell to San Bernardino Valley College in four sets, with the final scores reading 19-25, 24-26, 25-23, 18-25. Despite the loss, there were notable performances from the Southwestern team.
Sophomore outside hitter Sierra Van Deusen led the team with a strong showing, recording 9 kills and 12 digs, demonstrating her capabilities on both sides of the ball. Freshman setter Sara Banaszek contributed significantly with 14 assists and 2 aces, orchestrating the offense and adding a spark from the service line. Freshman libero Jhae Navarro showcased her defensive prowess with a team-high 20 digs, while fellow freshman libero Bella Cuenca made her presence felt with 3 aces.
Southwestern will look to bounce back as they prepare to host Santa Ana College at home on Friday, August 30th, with the match set to begin at 5:00 pm.
