Team Physicians


Mark T Selecky, M.D.

Dr. Mark Selecky has worked with Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Sports Medicine Clinic in Los Angeles. He has served as an Assistant Team Physician with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers, Sparks, Kings and Galaxy.  He also worked as Assistant Team Physician with the USC Trojans Football Team, California Angels, Anaheim Ducks and the Hollywood Park Jockeys. 

For over ten years Dr. Selecky has been a Member of the Surgery Supervisory Committee at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center and a long time Member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.  He has spent many years working as an Orthopedic Consultant for the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista and has cemented his reputation in the community as an outstanding Orthopedist. 

Since 1998 Dr. Selecky has been making an impact treating athletics on a complimentary basis in the South Bay area of San Diego while working as Physician Director for the Volunteer Sports Medicine Clinic for the Sweetwater High School District, and donating his time as Team Physician for Southwestern College. 

 

 


Charles Camarata, M.D.
Retired Physician/ Consultant

Dr. Charles Camarata, “Doc” graduate of University of Portland, 1953, Oregon Health Science, 1957, M.D.  USN; MCRD, 1957-1960. Family Medicine and Sports Medicine, Chula Vista, CA  1960 – present.  Board Certified and Fellow, AAFT, Chief of Staff; Scripps Memorial Hospital, Chula Vista, 1967-1970.  Past President of the San Diego Academy of Family Physicians, current board member and chair emeritus of Continuing Medical Education (CME). 

Dr. Camarata was awarded a California Community Colleges Instructor Credential. Subject matter Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies, valid for life. 

Dr. Camarata has volunteered as the Team Physician for Castle Park High School since 1963, and has been the Team Physician for Southwestern College since 1970.  Since 1963 he has donated his time and expertise by volunteering in over 10,000 sports screening examinations as well as attending over 1,200 high school football games.  He organized the free Saturday morning injury clinic in the South Bay community of San Diego County over 25 years ago.

Dr. Camarata was the first Medical Honoree of the San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation and currently serves on their Board of Directors.

The High School Sports Association of San Diego presented the Community Service Award to Dr. Camarata in 2004.  Dr. Camarata has served as the medical consultant for Sweetwater Union High School District since 1970.  He established the Student Athletic Training Program of Olympian High School and is currently working on Family Practice Sports Medicine Fellowship in Chula Vista. Dr. Camarata has been nominated to receive the award of California Family Physician of the Year Award for 2012. In 2013 Dr. Camarata was honored with the Bob Breitbard Meritorious Achievement Award.
